NCC Grants Over ₦500m For Research To Nigerian Universities

In lieu of the rising need to revitalise the research sector in the Country, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that it would be committing over ₦500 million to some of the Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions across the country to further facilitate for the increase in research and innovations to promote developments in the Nigerian telecommunications industry.

Prof. Umar Danbatta who is the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission had made this disclosure at a two-day Regional Roundtable with Academia, Industry and Other Stakeholders which ended in Kano at the weekend.

3R Seals Deal On Revenue Assurance Solutions With NCC

In a fresh development, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that it has finally signed and sealed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with one of its consultants, the 3R Company Nigeria Limited, which would be in charge of the handling of  the execution of the Revenue Assurance Solutions (RAS) to strengthen and manage the integrity of the revenue generation process in the Nigerian telecommunications industry.

Telecoms Service Delivery: NCC Mulls For Consumer Support

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has put out a structure to canvass for the support of telecom consumers in complementing the Commission’s important efforts to ensure improved telecom service delivery in their communities and areas.

Prof. Umar Danbatta who is The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC (EVC/CEO),  made the appeal at the second edition of the Village Square Dialogue (VSD), one of the Commission’s consumer outreach programmes.

“The dialogue took place in Danbatta Local Government Area, Kano State recently with a focus on, “Protection of Telecom Infrastructure for Improved Quality of Service: The Role of Residents.”

Nigerians Not Required To Submit IMEIs, NCC Clarifies

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has denied media reports suggesting that the masses would have to submit their IMEIs to the Federal Government.

Nigerians are not required to submit the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of their phones from July.

NCC in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Ikechukwu Adinde, said the commission is in the process of deploying a Device Management System.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has lifted the ban on new Subscribers Identification Module (SIMs) card registration Africa Daily News, New York can confirm.

Going by the latest directive, the effective date for implementation is Monday, April 19, 2021.

However, NIN registration is mandatory for registering new SIM cards as a pre-requisite.

The House of Representatives has urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to jettison the two weeks deadline for linking SIM cards to National Identity Number (NIN) and extend the deadline.

NCC Makes Clarification On ‘Switching On’ Of 5G Network

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on Monday said it has not issued any license for Fifth Generation Network also known as 5G in Nigeria.

NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, issued the denial in a response to reports making the rounds that Nigerian telecommunications’ industry was at the verge of switching to 5G network.
