Court Reinstates 32 Sacked Ekiti Varsity Workers

The Nigeria National Industrial Court, sitting in Akure, Ondo State has reinstated 32 out of over 900 workers sacked by the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) in December last year.

According to report, the institution’s management had on December 5, 2019 erroneously sacked over 900 of its workforce for alleged certificate forgery, irregular appointment, and overage among other sundry allegations that contravened its conditions of service.

Nigeria’s Defence Chief, Olonisakin Risks Imprisonment

The National Industrial Court (NIC) has ruled that a contempt of court charge be filed against the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Gabriel Abayomi Olonisakin, over the alleged refusal to comply with valid orders.

Olonisakin may be committed to two years imprisonment if found guilty.

PRNigeria reports that the leave to file the charge was granted to Lt-Col. Abdulfatai Mohammed by Justice Sanusi Kado of the NIC, following the Nigerian Army’s refusal to reabsorb him as ordered two years ago.

The court had, in a judgment by Justice Edith Agbakogba,
