UTME: Why NIN Is Compulsory For Registration – JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it made use of the National Identity Number (NIN) for registration of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) compulsory, in a bid to checkmate examination malpractices.

JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated this during a virtual meeting with owners of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres on Friday.

According to Oloyede, the idea was also for security reasons.

NIN Registration: Federal Government Extends Deadline

The Federal Government has extended the National Identity Number, NIN, registration deadline by 8 weeks.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Kayode Adegoke, Head, Corporate, Nigeria Identity Management Commission, NIMC.

‘The ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) integration exercise has been extended by 8 weeks, with a new deadline of April 6, 2021,’ he said.
