Nine Nigerians nabbed in US for multi-million dollar fraud

Nine Nigerians have been arrested in the United States of America for defrauding businesses and individuals of more than $3.5 million.

The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Geoffrey S. Berman, and Homeland Security Investigations (HIS) Special Agent-in-Charge of the Tampa, Florida, Field Office of U.S., James C. Spero, announced on Thursday that the suspects committed the fraud through business email compromises, a Russian oil scam, and a romance scam.

Man nabbed with lighters, petrol at New York Cathedral

A 37-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday night after walking into St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City with two full gasoline cans, lighter fluid and lighters, police said.

The incident occurred two days after a massive fire severely damaged the 850 years old Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, causing global shock and sorrow. The blaze was most likely the result of an accident though a major investigation is under way.

Pastor nabbed for allegedly infecting boys with HIV virus

Ezuma, the founder of Jesus Intervention  Household Ministry in Ejigbo, was arrested at his residence after an informant notified the police he had resurfaced.

It was gathered that the suspect climbed his ceiling where he hid for over two hours to evade arrest when detectives from Ejigbo Division stormed his home a few days ago.

He was forced out of the ceiling after the policemen that went called for reinforcement in order to drag him out of his hiding place.

128 nabbed for electoral offences

The police are holding 128 persons for electoral offences during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

The police also said they had recovered 38 weapons and some explosives.

According to the Acting Inspector-General (IG) of Police, Mohammed Adamu, the Special Election Investigation Team (SEIT) has been directed to begin a discreet investigation of all security-related infractions during the election and ensure that all persons found culpable are brought to book in accordance with the law.

Seven members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have been arrested for illegal collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from eligible voters in Ikere Ekiti.
