The Federal High Court, Abuja, has dismissed an alleged attempted murder suit brought by a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, against his estranged wife, Precious Chikwendu.

The dismissal of the suit by Justice Inyang Ekwo came on the heels of the dramatic withdrawal by the former minister. When the case came up for arraignment, the prosecution counsel, Mr John Ijagbemi, informed the court that he had the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to discontinue with the matter.

An Egyptian court yesterday sentenced a judge to death for murdering his wife, the judiciary stated, in the third high-profile femicide case in the country in two months.

The criminal court decided ‘to refer the judge who killed TV presenter Shaimaa Gamal, and his accomplice, to the Grand Mufti of Egypt’ — a formality in death penalty cases.

A Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Enugu State, on Sunday, said there was no going back on the ultimatum it issuued over the murder of a senior nurse, Dr. Mrs. Maria Amadi.

NAN reports that Amadi, who until her death was the head of nursing services, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu, was murdered by gunmen in front of her residence at Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.

A British teenager on Friday pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of a six-year-old French boy, who was thrown from the 10th floor viewing platform of London’s Tate Modern art gallery.

Jonty Bravery, 18, admitted the charge during a hearing at the Central Criminal Court. He was remanded in custody pending psychiatric reports and sentencing on February 17.

The young boy suffered a broken spine, legs and arm in the attack, which happened in front of horrified visitors to the riverside contemporary art gallery on August 4.

Dismissed police inspector, Ogunyemi Olalekan, was on Tuesday at an Ikeja High Court remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons after his arraignment for the alleged murder of Kolade Johnson, a 35-year-old man at a viewing center in Lagos.

Two of Ireland’s youngest convicted killers have been sentenced for the murder of schoolgirl Ana Kriegel, with one of the teens receiving life in prison.

The 15-year-old boys were found guilty in June of murdering Kriegel, 14, whose naked body was discovered in an abandoned farmhouse in Lucan, County Durham last year, Britain’s PA Media news agency reported.

Two Murder Suspects Awaiting Trial Escape From Jail

Two “dangerous” murder suspects escaped from a California jail on Sunday and remain on the loose, according to authorities.

Santos Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, were awaiting trial on unrelated murder charges when they bolted from the Monterey County Adult Detention Facility in Salinas.

“We need the public’s help to be on the lookout” for them, the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Sunday.

Fonseca is 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds, and Salazar is 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Both have black hair and brown eyes, and have been in custody since 2018.
