Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Wednesday during its plenary resolved to urge higher institutions in Nigeria to stop the post UTME/JAMB screening.
The lawmakers said it will also mandate its committee on Tertiary Education and Services to call for a joint meeting of the Federal Ministry of Education, JAMB and National Universities Commission to develop a unified template.

The post UTME, always paid for, has been made compulsory by various tertiary institutions for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

Nigeria Moves 15 Places Up On Ease Of Doing Business Index

Nigeria has moved up by 15 places to 131 on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking. Africa’s most populous country was ranked 146th in the previous year.

The report is an annual publication that measures business regulations across 190 countries. In its latest study, World Bank ranked Nigeria in the top 10 economies where business climates have been improved. Nigeria was ranked 15 in ease of getting credits or loans.

Nigeria’s worst ranking in the report was at the ease of registering properties where it ranked 183. Nigeria also ranked 179 in trading across borders.

The Trump administration is again changing the way it vets people who want to sponsor minors who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border alone in an effort to speed up the release of thousands of migrant children currently in U.S. custody.

Under the change, announced to staff on Friday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which houses unaccompanied migrant children, will no longer require an immigration records check on potential sponsors already backgrounded by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
