Niger Police DSP Dies Amid Probe Into Arms Supply To Bandits

Nigerian Deputy Superintendent of Police in Niger State dies by suicide as investigation uncovers missing arms allegedly supplied to bandits.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Niger State, Isah Abdullahi, has died by suicide amid an investigation into the alleged supply of arms and ammunition to bandits and criminal groups.

Abdullahi, also known as Kunkuri, was the head of the Mopol 12 armoury located at the B Division of the Niger State Police Command on Paikoro Road, Minna. The incident occurred on December 16 during a routine audit of weapons and ammunition.

On Tuesday, Justice A. B. Aliyu of the Federal High Court, Minna, relisted the fraud case involving the duo.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Aliyu and Nasko (first and second defendants) on three-count amended charge of breach of trust and money laundering to the tune of ₦2billion.

The Niger State Government has threatened to disconnect water supply from the State Water and Sewage Corporation to the Army Barracks, Minna for failure to settle their water bills.

Youths Protest Over Awful Minna-Suleja, Minna-Bida Roads

Hundreds of youths early Monday morning blocked the Minna-Suleja and the Minna-Bida roads in Niger State protesting against the dilapidated state of the federal highways.

The two road networks are the major access to and out of Niger State.

The youths carrying placards sat on the road thereby stopping vehicular movement in and out of the state, they also vowed to continue the protest until the Niger State and federal governments accede to their demands.
