Nigerian Govt Suspends Planned 5% Tax On Phone Calls, Data

The Federal Government of Nigeria has bowed to pressure and suspended the introduction of five percent excise tax in the digital economy sector, a tax which was earlier proposed by the Minister of Finance.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami disclosed this in Abuja during the inauguration of a committee that will review the policy.

Pantami explained how he personally rejected the policy and took it upon himself to advise President Muhammadu Buhari against it in view of the effects it would have on the digital economy.

Soludo Accuses Politicians Of Fueling Feud With Iweala

Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has condemned attempts to create a feud between him and the former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Soludo said the attempt was the handiwork of opposition politicians, who are afraid of his towering personality, and who hope that by their actions, they can stop him from becoming the next governor of the state.

Creative Industry: Nigerian Govt Approves ₦7bn

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed says the Federal Government through Bank of Industry (BoI) has approved facility of about seven billion naira under its creative industry group.

Ahmed said this at the Greeners Business-to-Business Annual National Economic Dialogue 2020 held in Abuja on Saturday.

The economic dialogue has a theme “Positioning Nigeria’s Creative Industry as Growth Engine of Africa Continental Trade Agreement (AFCTA)”.
