IPOB Members Arrested Over ‘Inciting Songs’, Missing

Four months after the Enugu state police command arrested 140 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for allegedly organising unlawful procession, some members of the group are yet to be found.

The command spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, told The Guardian that after the IPOB members were arrested on Wednesday 22 May in Nsukka Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, the way about of Iloegbusi Ikenna Emmanuel is yet unknown.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has ordered five corps members in Sokoto State under Batch C Stream 1 to repeat/extend their service year for violating various rules.

The coordinator of the scheme in the state, Philip Enatonme Enaburue, disclosed this to newsmen in his office in Sokoto on Friday.

The leadership of the National Assembly has begun moves to procure operational vehicles for the lawmakers that make up its dual legislative chambers.It was learned yesterday that meetings in that regard started among presiding officers in the Senate even before the apex legislative body embarked on its eight-week recess, which ends on September 24, 2019.

A National Assembly official confirmed the meetings on condition of anonymity, saying the cost of the cars would be deducted from lawmakers’ allowances.

IPOB seeks release of members arrested in Akwa Ibom State

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday demanded the release of its members allegedly arrested by the police in Akwa Ibom State on Wednesday.The group, in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in Enugu yesterday, said that 122 of its members, including a three-year-old child, were arrested by the police and Department of State Services (DSS) officials during a peaceful gathering in the state.
