ASUP Condemns Suspension Of Members In Bida poly

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), has condemned the suspension of 10 members of the union by the management of Federal Polytechnic, Bida.
Mr Usman Dutse, ASUP National President in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos, said that union officials should not be victimised unnecessarily.Dutse said the union officials were queried without any investigation and suspended.“We are not going to tolerate that kind of victimisation because it has become the culture of our institutions to sack union officials anytime they kick against any doubtful activities of the management,” he said.

Police In Benue Discover 3 Family Members Dead In A Room

The Benue Police Command on Friday confirmed the discovery of three corpses belonging to one family in their room situated in North-Bank area of Makurdi metropolis.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the bizarre happening to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi, said investigations were ongoing to unravel the cause of death.

The PPRO also disclosed that a little girl was found in the room where the dead bodies were discovered completely unhurt but too small to give useful information.

Diri, PDP Mourn Death Of Party Members In Nembe

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Douye Diri, has noted with dismay the brutal killings of no fewer than eight members of the party by thugs suspected to be from the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a botched rally in Nembe Ogbolomabiri on Wednesday.

Senator Diri, in an interview with reporters in Yenagoa, condemned the violence and prayed for repose of the souls of those who were murdered by the armed thugs.

NYSC Insists On Dress Code For Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has insisted that it is not ready to bow to any pressure to compromise the scheme’s dress code for corps members, emphasising that it is devoid of ethnic, religious or gender bias.

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and the Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim have warned Corps members that would serve as ad hoc personnel in the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election in Bayelsa State to abide by the electoral laws.

ICAN Delists, Suspends Over 25,000 Non-Financial Members

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria has delisted 14,337 non-financial members who are owing the association dues for more than three years effective from November 1, 2019.

The professional accountancy body, in a statement signed by its registrar John I. Evbodaghe, said it has also suspended 11,240 members who are owing dues covering between than six months to three years.

“Council has directed that members should be given two weeks grace period ending November 19, 2019 to further reconcile their financial status with the Institute.” the statement said.
