Trump’s most high-profile engagement at the summit was overseeing a ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. At least 24 Rohingya died at sea after their boat failed to reach Malaysia, the coastguard in Bangladesh said on Thursday after rescuing 396 Rohingya people from the vessel which had been adrift for weeks after failing to reach Malaysia.

The official said a “final decision” had been made to send those rescued to neighbouring Myanmar. The coastguard initially said 382 had been rescued but later revised the number higher.

An Australian grandmother who claimed she was tricked into carrying drugs into Malaysia after falling for an online romance scam Tuesday won her final appeal against the death penalty and will be freed.

Maria Elvira Pinto Exposto was arrested in December 2014 while in transit at Kuala Lumpur airport with 1.1 kilos (2.4 pounds) of crystal methamphetamine stitched into the compartment of a backpack she was carrying.

A new report by Amnesty International, a human rights organisation, has revealed that 119 Nigerians are currently on death row in Malaysia. According to the report. Nigeria has the highest number of foreigners who have been sentenced to death in Malaysia.

The death penalty is currently retained as the punishment for 33 offences in the Asian country and is mandatory for 12 of these, according to the report.

As of February 2019, Amnesty reported, a total of 1,281 people were on death row in Malaysia, including 568 (44%) foreign nationals.
