The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, again failed to deliver ruling on Abdulrasheed Maina, ex-chairman, defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT)’s application for variation of his bail conditions.

Justice Okon Abang, who made this known during the proceeding, attributed the reason to heavy workload on the court.

The judge, who said the ruling was still within time, said it would be delivered on Jan. 28.

Khalid Aliyu, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, prosecution witness (PW5) in the ongoing trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, ex-chairman, defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), on Friday, disclosed that the PRTT rejected a N2 billion bribe from the accused persons in the police pension fraud.

Maina: Court Takes Major Decision In Trial

Justice Okon Abang of an Abuja Federal High Court on Monday, overruled Abdulrasheed Maina’s plea to reject documented evidence presented against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Abang, said that the defendant was not in a position to determine before the court which document was relevant to the case of the prosecution.

He said that any document the prosecution decided to bring before the court to proof their case, provided it was admissible to the law, such documents will be admitted in evidence.

Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTM), and his son, Faisal, are to remain in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, till January 2020.

Justice Okon Abang, who gave the order, on Wednesday, adjourned hearing on Abdulrasheed’s bail variation application till Jan. 13, 2020 while Faisal’s trial continuation was adjourned till Jan. 20, 2020, NAN reports.

Court Grants Maina ₦1 Billion Bail

Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) on Monday was granted a tough bail condition of ₦1 billion.

He was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Asides the N1 billion bail, Maina is to provide two sureties in like sum. Both sureties must be serving Nigerian Senators with no criminal cases before the court.

The former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina and his son, Faisal, will today be arraigned by Nigeria’s anti-fraud office.
