6 Million Illegal Arms In Circulation In Nigeria – Abdulsalami

Nigeria’s Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (Retd) has expressed grave concern over the proliferation of all calibre of weapons in the country, which he estimated at over six million.

The former Nigerian leader expressed dismay that the proliferation of weapons has heightened insecurity and led to over 80,000 deaths and close to three million Internally Displaced Persons (IDP).

Abubakar, who is chairman of, National Peace Committee (NPC), painted the ugly state of Insecurity the country is presently grappling at a dialogue of the committee with key stakeholders at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, yesterday.

International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on Thursday said her office is paying a close eye on developments in Nigeria.
