Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has said having instituted reforms covering critical sectors of the economy over the past four years, Nigeria under the Buhari administration is making steady progress on the path of prosperity.

Osinbajo stated this on Saturday in Lagos in a keynote address he delivered at the Redeemer’s Men Fellowship Conference themed “Galvanized for Geometric Growth.”

7.5% VAT: Buhari Govt Lists Exempted Goods, Services

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has revealed goods and services exempted from the Value Added Tax, VAT increase.

According to the details sent to NAN on Sunday from the office of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, several basic food items, locally manufactured sanitary towels, pads and tuition relating to nursery, primary, secondary and tertiary education have been added to the exemption list of goods and services on the VAT.

It said that this is in a bid to ensure that the cost of living does not rise for Nigerians because of the changes in the VAT.

President Muhammadu Buhari has listed some projects Nigerians should expect to come upstream by 2020.

This was part of the President’s New Year message he personally signed and made available to THISDAY on January 1.

Buhari said, “To recapitulate, some of the projects Nigerians should expect to come upstream from 2020 include:

“47 road projects scheduled for completion in 2020/21, including roads leading to ports.

The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Content Development and Management Board (NCDMB), Mr Simbi Wabote, has said the upcoming Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Train 7 will boost revenue generation.

Wabote gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the just-concluded 9th Practical Nigeria Content Forum in Bayelsa on Saturday.

UNESCO lists new sites including Jaipur as World Heritage

The United Nations cultural body UNESCO – yesterday added the Indian “Pink City” of Jaipur, the ruins Liangzhu City in China and the Plain of Jars located in central Laos to its World Heritage list.

The additions followed a vote.

The fortified commercial city of Jaipur was founded in the 18th century by Sawai Jai Singh II.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday insisted that it would not issue the governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) a return certificate as an elected senator unless a court of competent jurisdiction gives the order.

“The position of the commission has not changed. The position of the commission is that we will not issue certificate of return to Governor Rochas Okorocha in relation to the senatorial election,” INEC’s head of voter education Festus Okoye said at a press conference in Abuja.
