As the curtain sets to be drawn on January 9, 2020, marking the end of Chief Nnia Nwodo-led leadership of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, many prominent Igbo citizens from Imo State have started jostling to succeed him.

In line with the Ohanaeze constitution, the three-year tenure of the presidency of the organisation rotates in alphabetical order among the five Igbo-speaking states of Southeast and the Igbo speaking parts of Delta and River states.

NLC Leadership Meets State Chairmen Over Minimum Wage

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said that it would hold a consultative meeting with chairmen of state branches of the congress on Wednesday in Abuja.

Although the union did not state the agenda of the meeting, THISDAY gathered that the NLC intends to assess the level of compliance by state governments on the implementation of the national minimum wage for their workers.

Bloody Clash Over Motor Park Leadership In Ebonyi

Palpable tension has engulfed Agubia Ikwo community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following a bloody clash by youths over control of one of the biggest motor parks in the area.

Daily Sun gathered that one of the youths involved in the clash was reportedly killed on Tuesday during a reprisal while no fewer than 15 were seriously injured.

Some of those injured were being treated at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Reps Minority Leadership Remain Loyal To PDP – Elumelu

The leadership of the minority caucus in the House of Representatives has said it remains loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The minority leader,  Ndudi Elumelu,  who stated this yesterday,  in a statement by his Special Adviser(Legal) Oyorima Idahosa, dismissed allegations of disloyalty leveled against them by the party leadership.

The PDP had suspended Elumelu and six others following controversy over the emergence of minority principal officers in the House,  against the wish of the opposition party.
