Evans Lawyer Seeks Investigation Into Witnesses’ Death

Following the death of three witnesses who died while in police custody during the prosecution of the kidnap mastermind Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, notoriously known as Evans, and his co-defendant Victor Adubua, have been requested to be investigated.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offenses Court in Lagos State was informed about the three witnesses, who were also awaiting prosecution, passed away while in police custody and that no postmortem had been done to determine the reason for their demise.

Kufre Carter: DSS Finally Frees Journalist Arrested By Akwa Ibom Govt

Kufre Carter, the journalist detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) despite perfecting bail, has been freed.

His lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, had accused the DSS of awaiting a directive by Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, before releasing his client.

Kufre was arrested by the DSS and the Police April 27 over a purported phone conversation with an anonymous doctor.

The arraignment of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke was on Wednesday, stalled at the FCT High Court in Gwagwalada over confusion from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) the prosecuting agency.

A lawyer for former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn said Saturday he felt betrayed by his client’s escape from Japan but still understood his act, claiming it resulted from Japan’s inhumane justice system.

Mike Ozekhome, SAN, counsel to former Mohammed Bello Adoke, former Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, has condemned his arrest and detention.

A Federal Capital Territory, High Court, FCT, sitting in Maitama, on Friday ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to detain Adoke, for 14 days.

Lawyer Sues Dana Airlines Over 11-Hour Flight Delay

 

A legal practitioner, Babajide Idowu, has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Lagos against Dana Airlines Limited for allegedly delaying his flight for over 11 hours without adequate notification.

Idowu, in a writ of summons dated November 28, 2019, accused the defendant of breaching the contract of carriage between it and the plaintiff “when it failed to convey the plaintiff on the time scheduled for Flight No. 9J-356 on the 5th July, 2018 and delayed the flight for about 12 hours.”

About 15 operatives of the Department of State Service moved to rearrest Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, after the Friday’s proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
