Embattled President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has finally revealed that he will not be appealing against the recent judgement which had been made by the Federal High Court, Damaturu, which had consequently disqualified him from the Yobe North Senate Seat of the National Assembly in the 2023 poll.

Lawan had also made this clear in a statement on Thursday in Abuja that he has accepted the judgement in good faith.

Buhari Sends Message To Lawan

President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, on his 61st birthday.

His message was contained in a statement on Sunday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu.

The President joined the National Assembly and all members of All Progressives Congress “in celebrating the milestone, which has been lined with many years of contributions to Nigeria’s development, with fruitful years of lawmaking, starting from House of Representatives in 1999”.

President Buhari extolled Lawan’s discipline, maturity and selflessness in always looking at the broader picture in decision making.

Gbajabiamila Sends Message To Lawan

Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has eulogised the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, who is marking his 61st birthday.

The Speaker said Lawan, who has been in the National Assembly since 1999 serving first in the House and later in the Senate, is one Nigerian that has actively contributed to the development of the country’s legislature.

In a congratulatory message he personally signed in Abuja on Saturday, the Speaker recalled the valuable contributions of the Senate President while he served as a member of the House and later as a non-presiding officer in the Senate.

The President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has pledged to run non-partisan leadership in the National Assembly.

NAN reports that Lawan stated this on Saturday in Damaturu, Yobe State capital at a reception in his honour.

“I can take it upon myself to run a non-partisan Senate, where party does not determine what we do. What we do could be determined by the interest of Nigeria.
