Lassa Fever: 434 Cases, 80 Deaths Recorded In 2021 – NCDC

The statistics by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have revealed that 434 cases of Lassa fever have been recorded in Nigeria in 2021.

According to NCDC’s recent Lassa Fever situation report which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, no fewer than 80 persons were confirmed to have died of the disease this year.

The states affected by the infections include Edo (192), Ondo (150), Taraba (21), Ebonyi (17), Bauchi (15), Benue (8), Plateau (8), Kaduna (7), Enugu (5), Nasarawa (3), Kogi (3), Cross River (1),  Imo (1), Anambra (1), Delta (1), and Abia (1).

Lassa Fever: Kaduna Records New Case, Four Deaths

Kaduna State government has said that a new case of Lassa fever has been recorded.

The 40-year-old man is now receiving treatment at the Infectious Diseases Control Centre (IDCC)

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni, in a statement on Saturday, disclosed that four of the patients had died.

She said that two victims out of the eight confirmed cases on admission in hospitals have been successfully treated.

Lassa Fever Now In 27 States, Says Osagie Ehanire

Minister for Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Thursday said the federal government has guaranteed the provision of the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to operate 24 hours full service.
