The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two policemen for allegedly shooting a teenager dead at Bariga area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The two police officers are ASP Theophilus Otobo and Inspector Oguntoba Olamigoke attached to Bariga Police Station.

They allegedly shot a 17-year-old girl, Tina Ezekwe dead.

30 Vehicles Burnt In NNPC Filling Station Fire – LASEMA

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Tuesday said the fire outbreak at Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) filling station, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, destroyed 30 vehicles.

The filling station is located at YayaYaya Abatan bus Stop, off College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Oke-Osanyintolu said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

According to him, a tanker with 33,000 litres of diesel caught fire while discharging its contents into an underground tank at the NNPC filling station.

The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) said it has, in collaboration with the organised private sector, distributed over 1000 economic relief packages to indigent HIV patients during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Dr Monsurat Adeleke, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LSACA, on Saturday said the state government in partnership with the Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA) provided the succor.

Virus Kills 2 More Nigerians, Lagos Hits Over 100 Cases

The deadly Coronavirus disease has killed two more Nigerians, with Lagos cases surpassing 100 mark to set a record in the country.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, reports late Friday night that the two new deaths were recorded in Lagos and Edo States, bringing the total figure of those who have so far died of the disease in Nigeria to four.

The NCDC also recorded 11 new cases of Coronavirus in Lagos, taking its toll to 109, while Edo, which previously had four cases now have seven cases with three new addition.

Two shops with household utensils were destroyed in a fire that gutted Maola Shopping Mall at Ebute Ero Market in the Idumota area of Lagos on Friday.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who confirmed the incident noted that the fire had been put off by emergency responders.

According to him the combined efforts of emergency agencies put off the fire within 30 minutes.

Lockdown Rules Relaxed For Food Stores In Lagos, Abuja

The Federal Government has relaxed open and close rules for markets, supermarkets and food stores in Lagos, Abuja FCT and Ogun, where a lockdown has been imposed.

They will be allowed to open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily.

The National Co-ordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, said this on Wednesday during a briefing by members of the task force.

“For markets, only shops and stalls selling food and groceries shall be allowed to open to customers between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm,” he said.

About ₦2.4b has been spent within 11 months to procure 80 cars for the 40 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly.  The information available to The Guardian revealed that sometimes last year, a contract was awarded for 40 cars to be purchased for the lawmakers.
