Dapo Apara, a Nigerian chartered accountant, has accused a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu; a consulting firm, Alpha-beta, and a former commissioner in the state, Akin Doherty, of money laundering, fraud, tax evasion, and sundry corrupt practices.

Mr Apara, in writ of summons deposed to at a Lagos high court, claimed that Mr Tinubu and Alpha-beta reneged on certain agreements reached in the past about the management and control of the consulting firm.

It is a huge traffic relief for residents and road users around Iru and Victoria Island axes of Lagos State, as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, unveiled Victoria Island-Lekki Traffic Circulation Project in which seven gridlock-prone roads were completely re-designed and re-constructed with concrete slabs.

The improved roads are within the commercial areas of Iru and Victoria Island. Lagos Deaf Community Takes Protest To Sanwo-Olu’s Office

The Deaf Coalition Against Corruption on Thursday staged a peaceful protest to Lagos State Governor’s Office and House of Assembly over alleged corruption in the Lagos State Association of the Deaf (LSAD).

The protesters, led by the group’s Coordinator, Mr. Kehinde Akewusola, urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Speaker, Lagos Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, to investigate the alleged financial mismanagement by the executive of LSAD.

The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC) on Monday sealed the Banana Island Property Owners Resident Association (BIPORAL) Water Treatment Plant for failing to meet the required safety and quality standards.

The regulatory compliance seal order on the BIPORAL water plant supplying water to residents of Banana Island in Ikoyi was sequel to tests earlier conducted by the LSWRC which revealed that the water quality of the plant was unsafe for consumption, and needed to be subjected to improved treatment.

Ikoyi Registry Suspends 4,000 Weddings Over COVID-19

Over 4,000 couples who have applied to be wedded at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry in Lagos State will have to wait for some time to put a legal seal on their union.

The Ministry of Interior, which runs the marriage registry, had ordered the suspension of weddings since March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lagos Govt Releases ₦1.03b Accrued Pension To Retirees

The Lagos State government has approved the release of ₦1.030 billion for the payment of the accrued pension rights of 213 public service retirees in the state.

Mrs Folashade Onanuga, the Director-General, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), made the disclosure on Friday in Lagos.

Onanuga said that the commission had released the funds to the Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), which, she said, had credited the Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) of the beneficiaries.
