Lagos State Government has refuted claim by BudgIT that the state is not financially and economically stable.

Commissioner for Finance, Rabiu Olowo, in a statement said Lagos State is economically and financially solid.

”This is contrary to the publication by BudgIT, a public finance analyst, titled ‘Ability of States to Meet Monthly Recurrent Expenditure and Loan Repayment Obligations, 2019’, which the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration described as “misinformation”. BudgIT has apologized for its error.

Lagos Govt Meets With Uber, Taxify Operators, Gives New Directives

The Lagos State government on Friday met with the major cab-hailing operators in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu chaired the meeting which was held at the Lagos House in Marina.

According to Sanwo-Olu’s Special Assistant on Media, Jubril Gawat, eight key resolutions were agreed by all parties.

Some of them include comprehensive insurance cover for drivers and passengers, reduction on operational licensing fees by 20%, amongst others.

Lagos State Government has revoked the 2018 Land Use Charge (LUC). It was implemented by former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Lagos Govt Closes Isolation Centres As COVID-19 Cases Reduce

The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of the Eti-Osa Isolation Center in the state.

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this during the 17th update on the management of coronavirus in the state.

According to the governor, “Some of the isolation centers now have less than 20 percent of occupancy.”

The Lagos State Government has urged striking doctors under its employment to suspend their three days warning strike and return to work.

Earlier, on Monday, doctors working for the government had declared a three-day warning strike over safety and welfare issues.

Ten private schools have been put under lock by the Lagos State Government for flouting the closure order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, especially among the students.

Lagos State Government has terminated the contracts of some operators with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority.
