President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, met behind closed doors with the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mela Kyari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the agenda of the meeting was unknown at the time of filing this report.

Why FCT 2020 Budget Was Increased To ₦278bn – Kyari

The Senate on Friday approved ₦278 billion for the 2020 Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) budget, against the ₦232 billion earlier presented by the FCTA, NAN reports.

Chairman of the Senate Committee, Sen. Abubakar Kyari (APC Katsina) said the committee, in carrying its oversight duties on the budget proposal, identified critical areas of need for development to ensure improved living standards of inhabitants of FCT.

He said funds would cater for critical needs such as security, roads, water, health education and development of satellite towns within FCT.

Crude Oil: FG Targets To Hit 3M Bpd Before 2023 – Kyari

The Federal Government says it will increase crude oil production to the national target of three million barrels per day and reserves of 40 million barrels before 2023.

Mr. Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said this while addressing the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Upstream chaired by Rep. Musa Adar (Sokoto-APC) on Monday.

According to Census and Economic Information Centre (CEIC), Nigeria’s crude oil production was reported at 1,866 barrels/day in Aug. recording an increase from the previous number of 1,780 barrel/day for July.

The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Malam Mele Kyari says the corporation is not in contest for market share with the forthcoming Dangote Refinery.

Kyari disclosed this in a statement signed by Mr Ndu Ughamadu the spokesman for the corporation, in Abuja, on Wednesday.

He said that NNPC focus was on providing support to the promoters of the project to boost the country’s refining capacity.
