Kwara To Digitalise Education Management Info System

The Kwara Government says it will digitalise Education Management Information System (EMIS) to promote efficiency in the sector.

The state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Fatimah Ahmed, disclosed this to the News Agency  of Nigeria  (NAN) on the sidelines of the official presentation of the EMIS organised by the ministry in Ilorin.

Ahmed said the present administration was already going digital especially with the introduction of e-governance and that a good strategy to put education in the limelight was to go on-line real time.

In late December, the Kwara State government reclaimed a piece of land bordering the civil service clinic in Ilorin, the state capital. CAN Defends Kwara Govt Despite Ban On Religious Activities

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State chapter, insisted State Government has not banned religious activities in public schools.

The defence was issued on Saturday despite government order on such activities to stop.

Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Fatimoh Ahmed, had on January 14, issued a statement that no religious organisation is permitted to go to public schools for preaching or engaging in any religious activities during the morning assembly.

The statement added that prayers should be said silently on the morning assembly across public schools in the state.

Kwara Gov Reads Riot Acts On Exam Malpractices

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Thursday, threatened heavy sanctions against any school heads or officials caught aiding and abetting examination malpractices, saying such action in the 2019 WAEC has led to the blacklist of 165 schools in the state and financial penalties from the examination body.

The examinations were held between 8th April and 31st May, 2019.

The development, the worst in the history of the state, affected 122 public secondary schools and 43 private schools, each fined N250,000.

Kwara State government has kicked against preaching by religious groups in public schools.

The government in a statement on Monday, signed by Hajia Fatimoh Bisola Ahmed, Hon. Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, banned preaching in all public schools henceforth.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has claimed that Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, is out for vengeance against his family.

Saraki stated this on Saturday, while reacting to the governor’s decision to revoke a land occupied by his family in Ilorin, the state capital.

Kwara Govt Takes Over Sarakis’ Land

The Kwara State Government has taken over a piece of land being used by the Saraki’s Family in Ilorin.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara Governor, Rafiu Ajakaiye said on Friday that a new secretariat would be built on the land.

Ajakaiye said the land was originally meant for Government Secretariat and parking space of the Civil Service Clinic, but was unlawfully allocated to a private firm, Asa Investments Limited, without any record of payment to the state government.

EFCC Recovers Additional ₦70m In Kwara

The Ilorin zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Wednesday disclosed that it has recovered additional Seventy Million Naira for the Kwara State government in its ongoing efforts to recover funds allegedly stolen by corrupt individuals.

The commission had on October 11, 2019, handed over the sum of N112m recovered to the state Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in Ilorin.
