Police arrest FRSC boss for allegedly killing colleague

Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Onitsha, Anambra State, Paulinus Akpotobo, and another senior officer have been arrested by the Onitsha Police Area Command for allegedly strangling a colleague, Emeka Ojei, to death.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening.Sources close to FRSC said trouble started when the deceased threatened to write a petition of corrupt practice against one of the officers to FRSC zonal headquarters in Benin City, Edo State, an action that did not go down well with the affected officer.

Court condemns Houseboy to death for killing boss

A Lagos High Court in Igbosere yesterday sentenced a 25-year-old houseboy, Leudjou Koyemen Joel (aka William Smith) to death by hanging for killing his employer.

He murdered  Dayo Enioluwa Adeleke, the daughter of the late Brig.-Gen. Adekola Alfred Adeleke, on December 20, 2016.

Justice Adedayo Akintoye convicted Joel, after a nearly two-year trial which followed his not guilty plea to a one-count charge of murder.

The defendant, a refugee from Cameroon, had testified that Adeleke mistakenly stabbed herself after she fell while pursuing him with a kitchen knife.

For pleading guilty to beating her eight-year-old brother to death over theft of meat from a pot of soup, Justice Adedayo Akintoye of a Lagos High Court, Igbosere yesterday sentenced a cook, James Janet, to 14 years imprisonment.Janet beat her brother, Saviour Effiong James, to death for stealing meat at their residence in Ilupeju area at about 8:00p.m. on August 10, 2009.
