IGP Rewards DPO For Rejecting $200,000 Bribe In Kano

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba on Tuesday presented a certificate of Award to Nassarawa, Divisional Police Officer, SP Daniel Itse Amah for rejecting the sum of Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (USD 200,000) offered him as a bribe in a case of alleged armed robbery.

In a letter containing the commendation, SP Daniel was extolled for exhibiting sound professionalism in his actions which lead to the arrest of Ali Zaki, a Kano-based legal practitioner, and some Police officers.

The Kano State Hisbah Board has disclosed that it working on putting measures in place to regulate social media in order to curtail immorality and bad behaviour.
The board revealed that it is working on a collaboration with Kano State Censorship Board (KSCB).

A 40-year-old man who has been identified as Mu’azu Garba on Thursday died in a soak-away – septic tank  at Jigirya, in Nassarawa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State after he was accidentally trapped.

A High Court sitting in Kano and presided by Justice Jamilu Shehu Suleiman has countered the removal of seven councillors who impeached the Kumbotso Local Government Chairman Kabiru Ado Panshekara.

In an expert Interim Order, the presiding Judge restrained the local government Chairman his Secretary and the State Assembly from tampering with the tenure of the councillors.

25 Passengers On Flight From Kano To Beirut Test Positive

At least 25 passengers on a flight from Kano to Beirut on Wednesday have tested positive for COVID-19, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has confirmed.

The government of Lebanon had asked Middle East Airlines to evacuate its citizens from foreign countries last month.

On May 5, an aircraft with flight number ME570 took off from Kano to Beirut, according to a flight schedule provided by the Middle East Airlines.
