Buhari Agrees With Restructuring – Gov el-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is not opposed to state police and true federalism.

El-Rufai, who was the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on True Federalism, which submitted its report in 2018, said Buhari is not opposed to restructuring.

The Governor said that it was the National Assembly that has failed to act on the recommendations to make the laws.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has said that the peace and reconciliation process initiated by the Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area among the various ethnic groups will help to complement security efforts to restore law and order and advance towards sustainable peace in the area.

Governor El-Rufai explained, “What the communities and leadership of Atyap Chiefdom have started is the type of grassroots ownership of the responsibility for peace and harmony in communities that the government has advocated as a critical factor beyond the deployment of police and military forces.”

NBA Saga: Jigawa Branch Calls For el-Rufai’s Reinstatement

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Jigawa State has called for the reinstatement of Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai as one of the speakers at the association’s annual general conference.

The Jigawa branch also threatened to boycott the conference the decision is not reversed.

The association removed the governor as one of its speakers following an outcry by some lawyers who said the governor stands against what the profession represents.

The group’s virtual conference holds from August 24 to August 26.

Kaduna: 600 Armed Men At Zangang Hill – Youths Raise Alarm

Kaura Youth Coalition and National Association of Takad Youths on Saturday, told security agencies to dislodge a militia camp on Zangang Hill, Kaura LGA, Kaduna State.

They raised the alarm in a joint statement signed by their Presidents, Derek Christopher and Abin Vincent, in Kafanchan.

The groups alerted that the hill has become a breeding ground for militias, with over 600 armed men taking refuge there.

They called on security outfits to “intensify efforts in dislodging the militia camp on the Zangang hill top, where over 600 militia are wielding heavy weapons”.

El-Rufai Threatens To Jail Parents Enrolling Children In Almajiri

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has warned that parents who enroll their children into the Almajiri education system stand the risk of prosecution and up to two years jail.

El-Rufai stated this in Kaduna on Monday when he visited some 200 Almajiri children repatriated from Nasarawa State and undergoing rehabilitation and optical screening at Government College, Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna, NAN reports.

Almajiri are children enrolled to be taught Islamic knowledge under Islamic Clerics, but who loiter on the streets with bowls begging for alms and food.

Four-Month-Old Baby Tests Positive For COVID-19 In Kaduna

Kaduna State Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed that a four-month-old child was among the 20 new COVID-19 cases recorded in the state on Friday.

A statement issued by the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni, said that the father of the infected child had a travel history to Kano.

“The infant, who had been brought to the hospital for respiratory issues, was tested in accordance with the updated guidelines which advise that persons presenting with such symptoms be tested,” she added.

Mohammed-Baloni further said that the child’s ‘’parents have also been tested and their results are being awaited.’’
