A journalist was shot dead yesterday in southern Mexico, authorities disclosed, shortly after posting online about the disappearance about eight years ago of 43 students from a nearby area.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Mr. Fredid Roman, who published his work on various social media pages and contributed to a local newspaper, was found dead in his car in the city of Chilpancingo, the capital of Guerrero state, the local prosecutor’s office said yesterday evening.

Agba Jalingo, journalist and journalist who was earlier arrested and transferred to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has been released, although he is expected to report back on Monday.

Again, Journalist Killed In Mexico, 12th In 2022

A Mexican reporter was shot dead on Wednesday in the violence-plagued northeastern state of Tamaulipas — the 12th journalist killed so far in a particularly bloody year for the country’s press.

In his some of his social media posts, Antonio de la Cruz, a reporter for the daily Expreso, frequently accused politicians of engaging in crimes of corruption.

The reporter was attacked as he was leaving his Ciudad Victoria house, and both his wife and daughter were hurt.

Vivian Ottih: ‘Be Warned’ – YCN, IPC Warn Uzodinma Over Suspension Of Journalist

The Young Citizens of Nigeria (YCN) has asked Imo State Government to reverse the indefinite suspension of a journalist, Vivian Ottih.

This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by its Director of Media, Augustine Nwaobi.

Ottih, also a lawyer, is a Senior Editor with Imo Broadcasting Corporation-owned Orient FM in Owerri, the state capital.

YCN advised the Governor Hope Uzodinma and his administration to “thread cautiously on issues of public importance”.

They condemned the suspension of Ottih, the Chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), over the request for payment of three months’ salary on Facebook.
