2023: Analysts Give Reasons Jonathan Will Run Again

Political/social analysts have supported the moves by Nigerians mostly youth groups agitating for the return of former President, Goodluck Jonathan, as early permutations on the successor of President Mohammadu Buhari begins.

Mr Oribo Einstein, political/social analyst, and Comrade Wisdom Ikuli, also a political analyst, were of the opinion that the 2023 Presidential election will be about personality and not on party basis.

The duo who spoke in a telephone chat with DAILY POST argued that beyond the agitation for his return, the former President has the legitimate and constitutional right to contest.

MEND Meets Jonathan, Sends Message To Buhari

Following the December 24, 2019 attack on the Otuoke residence of ex President Goodluck Jonathan by gunmen, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), paid a solidarity visit to him at his residence in Yenagoa in Bayelsa on Friday.

This was contained in a statement by MEND spokesman, Jomo Gbomo.

MEND sympathized with the former President and his family while emphasizing “the futility of violence and terror as means of enthroning a better deal for the Niger Delta region, except as a last resort”.

Jonathan Speaks As Navy, JTF Visits Residence

The Joint Task Force (JTF), code named Operation Delta Safe, and the Nigerian Navy on Monday visited former President Goodluck Jonathan’s residence in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The visit was to ascertain the level of damage following attack on the former president’s residence by unknown gunmen on Christmas eve.

Buhari Calls Jonathan Over Attack On His Bayelsa House

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday called former President Goodluck Jonathan to sympathize with him following gunmen attack on his Otuoke, Bayelsa State residence.

President Buhari, in the telephone conversation, voiced his sadness over the “tragic and unfortunate attack.”

Presidency Denies Blackmailing Jonathan To Support APC

The Presidency has described as “false and irresponsible” reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan was blackmailed to support the governing party, APC, in recent Bayelsa State elections.
