JAMB Official Jailed 8 Years For ₦12.5M E-Card Theft

Delta State High Court, Asaba has sentenced a JAMB official, James Orji Ihejirika to eight years imprisonment for stealing the Board’s E-facility cards and change of course cards worth ₦12.5 million.

Ihejirka was an accountant working at the Asaba JAMB office. He received consignments  containing  E-facility cards and change of course cards worth N12.5 million from JAMB headquarters but instead of handing over to his state coordinator, he sold them and converted the money to his personal use.

He was charged under section 19 of the Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Act 2000, and section 386 of Criminal Code …

Homosexual Jailed For Raping 4 Minors

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Thursday sentenced a 26-year-old homosexual, Michael Kudowo to 11 years in prison for raping four male minors.

NAN reports that the senior magistrate, Mr Shotunde Shotayo, ruled that the convict must serve the sentence at the correctional centre in Abeokuta, Ogun, without any option of fine.

Shotayo also ordered that the four male minors (names withheld) and aged between 12 years and 15 years should be taken to Borstal Training Institution, Abeokuta for reorientation.

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday, sentenced former governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, to 12 years in prison for ₦7.65 billion fraud.

South Korean singer-songwriter Jung Joon-young was convicted Friday of gang rape and distributing videos of the assaults and other sexual encounters, and was jailed for six years in a scandal that has rocked K-pop.

A U.S. court has sentenced six of the eight Indians arrested in the Farmington University immigration fraud case, as per U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regulations.

The Indian students were arrested on charges of running a “Pay to Stay” visa racket wherein they were assisted hundreds of immigrants in illegally prolonging their stays in the US.

A Nigerian national resident in Atlanta, Georgia, Olufolajimi Abegunde has been sentenced to 78 months in prison for cyber fraud.

Abegunde, an MBA graduate from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, who also ordered to pay $57,911.62 in restitution to the victims of his offense, a statement by the United States Department of Justice said.

Ugandan feminist and lecturer Stella Nyanzi, has been jailed over a poem about ‘Vagina’ she wrote and shared on Facebook in September.

The Ugandan feminist in the poem,  used a graphic description of the birth of the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, and his mother’s vagina to criticize his “oppression, suppression and repression” in the country.

Stella who was arraigned before Buganda Road Court, was charged with “cyber harassment and offensive communication”.

She was accused of intending to disturb the peace and privacy of President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his mother the late Esteeri.

Naira Marley jailed

Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola (a.k.a Naira Marley) on Monday pleaded not guilty to an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards and fraud.

However, his bail request was not heard as he was ordered to be remanded in prison till 30 May.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged the musician before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
