Germany Prepared To Send More Troops To Lithuania – Scholz

Germany has revealed that they’re ready to deploy more troops to Lithuania, Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed during a visit Tuesday in response to repeated requests from the Baltics ahead of a NATO summit.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that even before Russia’s February’s invasion of Ukraine, Germany, which heads up a NATO battle group in Lithuania, had increased the size of its deployment from 550 to 1,000 soldiers.

The formerly Soviet-ruled Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which are all now EU and NATO members, are worried they could be next if Russia defeats Ukraine.

No fewer than 2.3 million refugees have now fled Ukraine ever since Russia invaded her neighbours on February 24, according to United Nations figures issued on Friday. 

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the UNHCR, the UN’s refugee agency, has so far recorded 2,316,002 refugees on its dedicated website — 160,731 more than the previous count on Wednesday.

Police Arrest Imo Youths Over Alleged Invasion Of Zoo

A security joint task force led by the Monitoring team of the Imo State police command has arrested some youths from Nekede community for allegedly invading into the State Zoological Garden and  Wild life park in their locality on Friday with bulldozers to lay claim to a  portion of the zoo.

According to a source, the youths were said to have massively pulled down the fence of the zoo , destroying some animal equipment in the process.
