₦80B Fraud: EFCC Releases Suspended Accountant-General On Bail

The suspended Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has regained his freedom after he was released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This development was confirmed to reporters by EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the EFCC had on May 16 arrested Idris over an ₦80 billion fraud.

He was arrested after failing to honour the commission’s invitations to respond to issues connected to the fraudulent act, the EFCC said.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared that any appointment and promotions carried out under the Integrated Payment and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) is illegal.
