2023 Elections: ‘No One Can Buy Our Integrity’ — INEC REC

Malam Garba Attahiru-Madami, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Kwara, has stated his intention to deliver the best elections in the state’s history in 2023, stressing that ‘nobody can buy his Integrity.’

At a news conference in Ilorin on Monday, Attahiru-Madami declared this in the wake of an allegation levelled against him by the state’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Prince Tunji Morounfoye.

According to reports, Morounfoye claimed in a public statement that the REC had been compromised and that he was in a secret meeting with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

INEC Barred From Ending Registration – Federal High Court

In a fresh decree, the Federal High Court in Abuja has completely barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which is the country’s electoral umpire from ending the process of voter registration on June 30, 2022.

Honourable Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon (Court 10) on Monday had openly granted an order of interim injunction which was following the hearing of an argument on motion exparte by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

As a result of the rising spate of reports against the commission’s agents about extortion and bribery, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Benue State on Sunday has announced that it has issued queries to two of its staff for allegedly extorting PVC registrants in Oju Local Government Area.

INEC also announced that the commission will be completely withdrawing the two officers from the ongoing voters’ registration process in the community.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State chapter has finally announced an extension of its deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for prospective voters.

Reps Orders INEC To Extend CVR Exercise By 60 Days

In one of their recent sessions, the Nigerian House of Representatives at plenary has on Wednesday, mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to give an extension on the ongoing Continous Voters Registration, CVR, exercise by 60 days.

The directive followed a motion by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Benjamin Kalu who represents Bende Federal constituency of Abia State.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has withdrawn the suit he filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation over his presidential ambition.

Emefiele, through his counsel, S.T. Maliki, told Justice Ahmed Mohammed that a notice of discontinuance had been filed and served on the defendants in the matter.
