ASUP Threatens To Embark On Strike Over IPPIS

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), has threatened to embark on strike over the challenges they are facing with implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

ASUP President, Anderson Ezeobe, stated this while speaking to journalists on Friday.

According to Ezeobe, the 15-day ultimatum issued by the union remains valid.

This is coming three days after the senior staff of Nigerian polytechnics issued a 21-day ultimatum for the Federal Government failure to address lingering issues associated with the IPPIS.

Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) has asked Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to give priority to early implementation of the new minimum wage of ₦30, 000 in the state.

State Secretary of the party, Comrade Ayodeji Adigun in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, stressed that in as much as the party commended the governor for early payment of Oyo workers December salaries as well as the 13th month salary, the governor should facilitate timely implementation of the new minimum wage.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has set up a joint negotiating committee on the implementation of new minimum wage.
A statement by Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Commissioner for Information, said the team headed by the Head of Service, was expected to conclude and submit its report to the governor by December 31.
Other members of the committee include Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance; Permanent Secretary/Executive Secretary, Planning Commission; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice and Permanent Secretary, Establishment/Pension who will serve as Secretary.
