Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim has presented the new Ahiajoku lecture series logo to Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State for its unveiling as a prelude to the 40th anniversary of the lecture series.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Owerri. Governor Ihedioha said the logo symbolises the enduring significance of the Ahiajoku festival and its pride of place in Igbo culture.

The festival started 40 years ago;from being a lecture series, Ahiajoku over the years has transformed to a festival – and lately to an institute.

Ihedioha Commences Payment Of Pensions To IBC Retirees

Retirees of the state-owned Media outfit, the Imo state Broadcasting Corporation have cause to smile as the state government has commenced the payment of their 34 months of pension arrears.
It would be recalled that the state government had earlier commenced the payment of the backlog of Pension arrears of retired civil servants in August 2019.
Prince Ugochukwu , Senior  Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment to the Imo state governor who disclosed this yesterday said payment of the pension arrears of the retirees of Imo Broadcasting Corporation has commenced as promised by the governor Emeka Ihedioha.

Ihedioha Will Focus On Vocational Technical Education

Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha has declared that his administration will give priority to vocational and technical education in order to tackle unemployment in the State.

This was made known by the state Commissioner for Education, Professor  Viola Adaku Onwuliri, during an official visit to the Imo State College of Education, White Uboma.

I would like to commend his Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha, for appointing Dr. Carmelius Iwuagwu, as the Head of Service (HoS) in Imo State. Dr. Iwuagwu, a first class brain and unassuming gentleman, hails from Owu-Amakohia Ikeduru. He holds a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Project Management from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). Owerri: Ihedioha Approves Rehabilitation Of 5 Roads

Imo Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has approved the rehabilitation of five major roads in the state, with failed sections totaling over 155km.

The approval was contained in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Chibuike Onyeukwu and made available to newsmen in Owerri on Wednesday.

Onyeukwu listed the affected roads to include the failed section of the 52 km Owerri-Egbu-Mbaise-Obowo road, the failed section of Owerri-Njaba-Orlu 32km road and the Aboh-Itu Ezinihitte Mbaise 7.1km road.

Others are the failed section of Owerri-Amaraku-Anara–Onuimo-Umunna-Okigwe 51 km road and the Achingali-Onicha-Udo na Obizi 14 km road.

Ihedioha Uncovers 8,000 Ghost Retirees, Cuts ₦500m Monthly

Through strict adherence to due process, accountability and diligence being applied by Ihedioha in Imo State Government, especially in capturing of retirees in both the state and local government system, the administration has fished out about 8,549 ghost retirees.

Also, a total monthly savings of about ₦500 million which would have gone down the pockets of fraudsters is now been saved into the coffers of the state government. Gov. Ihedioha promises to pay pension in Imo

The Imo Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has restated his administration’s commitment to the implementation of a veritable pension administration in the state.

The governor stated this in a goodwill message at the third quarter consultative forum organised by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) in Owerri on Wednesday.

Ihedioha, represented by his deputy, Mr Gerald Irona, said that his administration was committed to the welfare of pensioners through sustainable payment of pension.
