Theft In Bayelsa Government House: Policemen Arrested

Three policemen, four personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and one maintenance staff attached to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Bayelsa State Government House, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown were on Thursday arrest over alleged involvement in the theft of ₦ 3.5 million from the office.

The alleged theft, which reportedly occurred on Wednesday night, was discovered on Thursday morning with the safe where the cash was kept reportedly vandalised.

House Probes Alleged Violation Of Labour Laws By IOCs

The House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into the alleged violation of labour laws by international oil companies (IOCs), including the casualisation of labour.

The House also directed the Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, to provide to the Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity a performance update and report concerning plan to reform the process of granting and renewing recruiters’ licence to labour contractors as announced in July 2018.

Court Says White House Must Comply With Impeachment

Donald Trump’s top aides must comply with subpoenas to appear in the impeachment investigation against the president, a US appeals court judge ruled.

In a case involving former White House counsel Don McGahn, who was subpoenaed in May by the House Judiciary Committee, judge Ketanji Jackson ruled Monday that administration officials cannot claim absolute immunity from testifying based on their closeness to the US leader.

While Jackson ruled specifically on McGahn’s case, she said it had broad application to all current and former presidential aides.

2019 Budget: House Directs NDDC to Suspend All Payments

The House of Representatives has directed the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to suspend all payments with immediate effect, except for personnel cost for allegedly operating the 2019 fiscal year without a budget approved by the National Assembly.

The directive followed the adoption of a motion on the urgent need to investigate the failure and refusal of NDDC to submit its budget estimates for 2019 to the National Assembly for approval brought by Hon. Benjamin Kalu.

Fire Fighters Prevent Fire Outbreak In Niger Gov House

Men of the Niger State Fire Service this afternoon prevented a fire outbreak at the office of the Permanent Secretary, Niger State Government House, Minna.

The fire outbreak, which started at about 12:35 pm was put out by a combined team of fire fighters at about 1:03 pm.

2020 Budget: Showdown Looms In House Of Reps

A showdown is dangling over the House of Representatives following alleged allotment of constituency projects to principal officers  in the 2020 budget besides their share of votes allocated for projects in the Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIP).
