There Is A Plot To Assassinate Me, Dogara Raises Alarm

Mr. Yakubu Dogara who is a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has raised alarm while petitioning the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), over an alleged assassination plot.

In the said petition which was personally signed by Dogara, the lawmaker alleged that some cops identified as Inspector Dakat Samuel, and Inspector Auwalu Mohammed were conspiring with one Barau Joel Amos (Sarkin Yaki) to hatch the plot.

Dogara said although the matter is currently before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi Command of the force, he wanted the IGP to be aware.

The process of barring politicians and those with political links from holding executive posts at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has begun in the House of Representatives after the recent disgracing outing of the current siting Governor for the apex bank.

Politics will also be prohibited for currently employed senior officials of the apex bank.

This is being proposed in the Central Bank of Nigeria (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which is seeking to amend the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007, which passed second reading at the plenary on Tuesday.

As the aftermath of her arrest, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has finally released former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs Patricia Olubunmi Etteh on bail.

Her release was announced on Friday night after fulfilling bail conditions offered her by investigators working on her case.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, said the former Speaker is to report periodically to the agency to assist with further investigations.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has revealed what President Muhammadu Buhari should have done instead of snubbing the House of Representatives after assuring them he would honour their invitation.
