Crashed Bell Helicopter Declared Non-Airworthy 3 Years Ago

A Bell 206-B3 helicopter with registration number 5N-BQW, which crashed on Salvation Road, Opebi, Lagos State, on Friday, was declared non-airworthy three years ago.

The helicopter crashed with three persons onboard.

While two crew members died on the spot, the third person earlier rescued and taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, later died.

Documents showed that the crashed helicopter was declared non-airworthy in 2017 by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

The aircraft was also used in the past by different Nigerian airline operators to dupe NCAA into issuing them Air Operators’ Certificates.

Tour Helicopter Missing Off Hawaii With Seven On Board

The US Coast Guard was Friday searching for a tour helicopter with seven people on board that went missing off the coast of Hawaii in “challenging” weather conditions.
The chopper was on a tour of the coast of the northwestern island of Kauai. A boat and a helicopter were sent to scour the area when its owner raised the alarm around 40 minutes after it was due back on Thursday evening, the US Coast Guard said.

Reps Committee Invites NAF Chief Over Helicopter Crash

The House of Representatives Committee on Air Force says that Chief of Air Staff Sadique Abubakar should appear and explain the factors that lead to the crash of a training helicopter in Enugu.

The committee gave the directive in a statement issued by the Chairman, Rep. Shehu Koko (APC-Kebbi) on Saturday in Abuja.

Koko said that the house had the determination to investigate the remote cause of the ugly incident to avoid future recurrence.

The chairman gave thanks to God that no life was lost in the accident which occurred as the helicopter was returning from a routine exercise.

NAF Confirms Helicopter Crash In Enugu, No Casualty

A statement on Friday in NAF’s Twitter handle said that the incident occurred after a routine flight and that though the blades of the helicopter broke but there were no casualties.

The statement said that the cause of the incident could not be ascertained.

The statement reads: “@NigAirForce Helicopter has crashed on landing in Enugu after a routine flight today. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries to any crew member or persons on the ground.

Air Force’s helicopter crashes in Katsina

The  Air Force has confirmed the crash of its helicopter that was returning from a combat mission in Katsina State.

It, however, said no life was lost in the crash, which occurred at about 3.30pm yesterday.

NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola said in a statement that the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has ordered a probe of the incident.

AIB explains why Osinbajo’s helicopter crashed

LAGOS—The Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, yesterday, released preliminary report on the helicopter crash involving the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and members of his team.
