Gambari Was Abacha’s Man – Soyinka Makes More Revelations

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s new Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, was in the circle of late Head of State, Sani Abacha.

Soyinka made these claims in an interview with Plus TV Africa.

Gambari was announced as replacement for the late Abba Kyari, who died due to complications of COVID-19, last month.

However, according to Soyinka, he is “part of the structure” and will not “make any difference here”.

Ohanaeze Denies Appointing Gowon For Presidency Campaign

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has denied appointing former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, to lead the campaign for an Igbo president in 2023.

This was contained in a statement signed by the group’s spokesman, Uche Achi-Okpaga, on Wednesday.

Achi-Okpaga made it clear that Ohanaeze never contemplated involving either Gowon or any prominent politician.

He said the “purported pact” with Gowon emanated from a group known as Ohanaeze Youth Council and “exists only in the imagination of the miscreants and enemies of the Igbo nation”.

The Supreme Court, yesterday, declined a request by family members of the late Head of state, General Sani Abacha to unfreeze accounts belonging to him and other members of the family in foreign countries.

The accounts, which are in banks in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Jersey, Liechenstein and Luxembourg, were frozen following mutual judicial assistance agreements entered with the countries by the Nigerian government during the administration of the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo, in 1999.

Dissatisfied with the government’s action, the Abacha’s family dragged the federal government to court to reverse the said directive.
