Groups Take Campaign Against Sexual Harassment To UNEC

TheΒ Gender Development and Policy Centre (Gen-Cent), University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN) in collaboration with Women Aid Collective (WACOL) has taken the campaign against sexual harassment in tertiary institutions to the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC).

The Centre, which promotes gender research and policy matters, had earlier launched the anti-sexual harassment campaign in Nsukka campus of the university December last year.

The Sexual Harassment Bill sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and 105 other Senators and three other bills wednesday passed through the second reading at the Senate.

Women threaten to go naked over harassment in Anambra

No fewer than 100 women including widows from Ndiukwuenu community in Orumba North local government area of Anambra State, Friday, stormed the state police command, threatening to go nude over harassment by thugs and policemen in their area.

Besides, they demanded immediate release of two of their husbands arrested by the police Friday morning in the community.

The names of those arrested by the police on the orders of some land grabbers in the area were given as Raymond Egwu, a Catholic catechist and Vincent Nwafor.
