The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Saturday, stopped the planned inauguration of a factional executive of the union in Ogun State.

The NUJ said it stopped the event based on the order of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria sitting in Ibadan, which restrained it from conducting fresh election in the Ogun State Council of the union.

The Vice President B Zone, Cosmos Oni, who had led other officers to Abeokuta to conduct the proposed election, confirmed the directive of the NUJ national leadership.

Court Halts Lagos PDP Election

A Lagos High Court, which was presided over by Justice T.A.O Oyekanmi Abdullai, yesterday gave an order stopping the conduct of the proposed “special election” by the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The election was scheduled for today. But the court ordered that the status quo be maintained until hearing in the substantive case.

IOM Halts Ebola Screening After Aid Workers Killed In Sudan

The UN migration agency (IOM) has suspended Ebola screenings at five border points between South Sudan, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), after three of its aid workers were killed during clashes in South Sudan.

“The IOM volunteers, one female and two males, were caught in a crossfire during clashes that broke out” in South Sudan’s Central Equatoria region, IOM said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Two other male volunteers suffered non-life threatening injuries, one of whom is recovering from a gunshot wound,” the statement added.

Court Halts Fayemi’s Decision To Relocate LG Headquarters

A High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Wednesday halted the proclamation made by the state government to relocate the headquarters of Ilejemeje Local Government from Iye Ekiti to Eda-Oniyo Ekiti.

Addressing journalists on Monday, the Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, announced the relocation of the headquarters to Eda-Oniyo predicating this on the December 14, 2018 judgment of the Supreme Court.
