Gunmen kidnap five-day-old baby in Kogi community

A five-day-old baby allegedly abducted in their home in Ijagbe commmunity, Mopa-Muro Local Government Area, Kogi, is yet to be found 10 days after the incident.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) learnt that the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on April 11 when the gunmen invaded the home of Mr Tosin Ojuola and at gun point, forced his wife to surrender the child to them.

Gunmen kill Akure Anglican Church bursar

A bursar attached to the Akure Anglican Diocese Secretariat, Alagbaka, Akure, has been reportedly killed.

The deceased, identified as Gabriel Abiodun, was shot dead yesterday by gunmen suspected to be robbers, who were said to have trailed him after leaving a new generation bank at Alagbaka.

An eyewitness, who was on the scene, said Abiodun was trailed from the bank by the three gunmen to the church where they rained bullets on him.

He said: “The man (bursar) had just returned from one of the new generation banks to withdraw N500,000, which we learnt was probably meant for retirees.

Gunmen kidnap policeman, others in Edo

A police officer simply identified as DSP Godwin and four other persons have been abducted by gunmen at Ubiaja, headquarters of Esan South East local government area.

DSP Godwin was travelling to Asaba when the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped by the gunmen who were on the road apparently for kidnapping.

Police sources said DSP Godwin and others were taken into the bush.

Again, gunmen kill two soldiers in Rivers

Barely one week after one soldier and six persons were killed in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, two soldiers have again been killed at a military checkpoint along Obonoma-Abonnema Road in the same local government area.

The violence that trailed the election in the area led to the suspension of election in the area. Residents also claim that more than 17 persons, mostly youths, have been killed in the community in reprisals by the military.

Gunmen kill Imo APC ward chairman after meeting

Three armed gunmen Tuesday night, stormed the residence of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 11 Logara / Umuohiagu, Ngor Opkala Local Council, Ifeanyi Ozoemena, 49, killing him.

The deceased, sources closed to him, disclosed that the hoodlums swooped on the victim shortly he ended a meeting of the party members which he presided over in his capacity as the chairman of the ward.
