Edo State Media Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the news conference in Benin by 35 fringe parties, with Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) endorsed as their sole governorship candidate, was allegedly done in exchange for ₦5 million each and a promise of ₦65million.

The council, through its Chairman, Prince John Mayaki, alleged at the weekend that a motley of parties opted to sell their platforms and do irrevocable damage to their potential for growth in the state by agreeing “to offer their support to a widely-rejected Obaseki.”

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has called on Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State to “set aside his anger” and return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ize-Iyamu made the appeal on Monday in Benin City, Edo State after he emerged as the governorship candidate of the APC for the September 19, 2020 poll in the state.

He said Obaseki made a mistake leaving the party and he could still correct it.

He argued that it is normal to have a disagreement in “every family” and that it would be bad for Obaseki to leave the APC due to that.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo has revealed that he will be meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari before making his next move after his disqualification from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the state.

The governorship screening committee of the APC Friday rejected his candidacy, alongside Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi and Matthew Iduoriyekemwen.

The disqualification was announced by the chairman of the screening committee, Prof. Jonathan Ayuba at a press conference in Abuja.

Obaseki Attends ‘5 Minutes’ Screening At APC Secretariat

Governor Godwin Obaseki attended the screening of the aspirants for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Edo.

The screening of the six aspirants for the ruling party began on Wednesday afternoon at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

According to reports, Governor Godwin Obaseki arrived at about 1:10 and left after five minutes.

However, the chairman of the screening committee, Prof. Jonathan Ayuba, said it was only to verify all the documents provided by the aspirants and make recommendations to the party based on its findings.

Obaseki Reacts To Murder Of Vera Omozuwa

Governor Godwin Obaseki has spoken on the murder of a student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), identified as Vera Uwaila Omozuwa.

The 22-year-old was gang-raped and clubbed to death by yet-to-be-identified persons.

The incident took place on the night of Wednesday last week, inside the Ikpoba Hill branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) in Benin, Edo state.

The 100-Level student of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences in the institution, was said to have gone to the church to read when her assailants pounced on her.
