Nigeria’s apex Bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), got Nigerians reacting to the samples of the new designs of higher denomination currency notes just a few days ago. The decision to redesign these currencies was earlier announced amid mixed feelings from Nigerians who wanted more from a Central Bank that has supervised the eroding of the value of their beloved Naira.

2023: Emefiele Strikes Off Suit Against INEC, Malami

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has expressly withdrawn the suit he filed against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Attorney-General of the Federation over his presidential ambition.

Emefiele, through his counsel, S.T. Maliki, told Justice Ahmed Mohammed that a notice of discontinuance had been filed and served on the defendants in the matter.

The development occurred shortly after the matter was called.

Maliki, who held the brief of Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, said though the matter was scheduled for the mention, they had Emefiele’s instruction to withdraw the suit.

Godwin Emefiele who is a presidential aspirant and also the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has opined that Africa needs to finance her own growth.

Court Favours Suit Seeking Details Of CBN’s Dealings

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled in support for the prosecution of a suit seeking to compel the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and its Governor, Godwin Emefiele to make public details of some of the bank’s recent dealings.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, in a ruling, granted leave for an application for ‘judicial review vides an order of mandamus, compelling the 1st and 2nd respondents (the CBN Governor and the bank) to furnish all information’ on its expenditure as sought by a group, the Incorporated Trustees of Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative (ASRADI).
