Akpabio Gives Reasons For Withdrawing From Akwa-Ibom Rerun

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs , Senator Godswill Akpabio has distanced himself from the ongoing rerun election in Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom State.

NAN had reported that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state on Friday announced its decision to withdraw from the race.

It alleged a perceived bias of the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in the state.

NIS Gives Entry Requirements For Non-Nigerians

Mr. Muhammad Babandede, Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has revealed the entry requirements for non-Nigerian travelling to Nigeria.

Babandede gave the requirements in a statement by Mr Sunday James, the Service Public Relations Officer, on Tuesday and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

According to him, ECOWAS citizens and countries with visa abolition agreement with Nigeria require no visa for entry into Nigeria.

Trump Gives Exact Details On Elimination Of Soleimani

President Donald Trump has narrated minute-by-minute details of the US strike that killed Iran’s top military commander, Qassem Soleimani.

Trump spoke at a GOP fundraising dinner held inside the gilded ballroom on his Mar-a-Lago property Friday evening, CNN reports.

In his speech, Trump said that Soleimani was “saying bad things about our country. How much of this shit do we have to listen to? How much are we going to listen to?”

INEC Gives Update On Sokoto Rerun Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged to collaborate with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other agencies to ensure transparency in the conduct of rerun elections in Sokoto State.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Abubakar Sadiq, stated this on Thursday at a stakeholders meeting preparatory to the election for four political seats scheduled on Jan. 25, 2020.

Sadiq said training of workers for the election had begun to ensure that they carry out their duties diligently.

He urged politicians to play the game by the rules, stressing that INEC would be transparent in its dealings

US House Of Reps Decides On Iran, Gives Trump Ultimatum

Members of the lower legislative chamber in the US on Thursday approved a nonbinding resolution aimed at restraining President Donald Trump from taking military action against Iran.

The House of Representatives voted against Trump’s ability to attack Iran in the future without congressional approval.

The House reached the resolution following wide criticism over Trump’s decision to order the killing of Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani in Iraq.

Before ordering Soleimani’s killing, the Congress was not consulted by the Presidency.

The House, acting on the War Powers resolution, also directed Trump to terminate military operations against Iran except for self-defence

New Minimum Wage: Labour Gives December 31 Deadline

Organized Labour has said it was ready to go to war with any governor that fails to implement the ₦30,000 minimum wage by December 31, 2019.

Six months ago, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the New Minimum Wage Act into law.

However, only five states – Kaduna, Kebbi, Lagos, Adamawa and Jigawa – have commenced implementation and payment of the new wage so far.

The Secretary-General of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Musa-Lawal Ozigi, has now said any governor that fails to implement or show commitment before the Tuesday deadline, would be deemed to have declared war against labour.

NIS Gives Deadline For e-Registration Of Foreign Migrants

The Cross River Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has called on foreign migrants, who are yet to be captured in its database, to do so before the January 2020 deadline.

The Comptroller of NIS in the state, Mr Okey Ezugwu, made the call during the end of year party held at the Command’s headquarters to celebrate the year’s activities in Calabar.

Ezugwu said that the Federal Government gave six months for the migrants to register for free in the NIS database so that they can be accounted for.
