Ganduje disagrees with Northern elders’ recall of Fulani

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has described the recall of Northerners, especially the Fulani herders, from the southern part of the country as unpatriotic and retrogressive.

In the height of unrest between herders and farmers in the south, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and Coalition of Northern Forum (CNF) called Fulani herders to return to the North to curtail the killings.

Vehemently rejecting the position, Ganduje insisted that regardless of ethnic or religious inclination, Nigerians possess the right to reside in any part of the country, without fear of attack or molestation.

Court stops Ganduje, agency’s action against Emir Sanusi

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday granted an order restraining Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and the State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission from acting on the preliminary report on alleged misappropriation of N3.4 billion by the Kano Emirate Council.

The order followed a suit filed on June 7, by Muhammad Mannir-Sanusi, Dan Buran Kano, seeking an order to restrain Ganduje, the Commission and the state Attorney General or their agents from acting on the preliminary report of the investigation.

New Kano Emirates: I’m not aware of court order – Ganduje

Kano state government on Saturday declared that it is not aware of any Court order stopping it from issuing letters of appointment to the four Emirs of newly created Emirates in Kano.

The Nation reports that a Kano High Court sitting at Ungogo on Friday granted an order restraining governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from implementing any action to legitimize the new emirates of Rano, Bichi, Gaya and Karaye.

It was reported that announcement were on local radio stations that the appointment letters to the new emirs will be issued on Saturday at Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall.

Court stops Ganduje from inaugurating new emirates

A High Court sitting in Kano yesterday issued an order against the appointment of four new emirs in the ancient city.

The ruling, however, coincided with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s appointment of Aminu Ado Bayero, son of the late Emir of Kano Ado Bayero, and three others as new emirs.

Ruling in an ex parte motion dated May 10, 2019 and filed by Hon. Sule Gwarzo, Justice Nasiru Saminu restrained Ganduje, the Kano State House of Assembly and the Speaker, Clerk of the Assembly, the Attorney-General and the State from implementing the division of Kano into five emirates.

I am not against Sanusi, Ganduje clarifies

Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje said he has nothing against the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II concerning the creation of new Emirates in the state.

“So, it is not vendetta, I am not against him. In fact, he is supposed to be reporting to the local government chairman according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor said in Abuja on Friday.

Ganduje wins Kano governorship re-run election

Incumbent governor of Kano State Umar Ganduje has won the supplementary election held in the state on Saturday.

Ganduje, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, polled a total of 45, 876 while his challenger Abba Yusuf of the People’s Democratic Party had 10, 231 votes.

Only 57, 777 voters were accredited for the election out of the possible 131, 073 registered voters, the returning officer for the election Professor Bello B. Shehu said.
