FRSC Frowns At Recent Trend Of ‘Rotating’ Number Plates

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has finally banned the use of swap number plates while condemning the new trend which is taking place in Nigeria.

FRSC Assistant Corps Marshal, Bisi Kazeem had made this announcement in a statement which he had released on Wednesday where he reiterated  that the use of rotational number plates is considered a criminal act as it is illegal.

Eid-el Fitr Patrol: FRSC Records 360 Rescues From 119 Crashes

The office of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported that it rescued 360 people without injuries from 119 crashes nationwide involving 701 people, during 2022 Eid-el-Fitri special patrol from April 29 to May 4.

This is contained in a statement by Bisi Kazeem who is the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM)  on Monday in Abuja.

The board of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has granted approval for the dismissal of 8 erring officers of the Corps in accordance with the provisions of its regulation on discipline.

The Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), ACM Bisi Kazeem, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

Kazeem said that the dismissal was part of the efforts made to rid the FRSC of undisciplined and corrupt elements.

The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) has again emphasised that over speeding, reckless driving and overloading are among the causes of road accidents in the country.

The Corps says it is poised to ensure the reduction of road crashes by 15% and fatalities from road crashes reduced by 20%.

FRSC Cautions Truck Drivers, Motorists Against Recklessness

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC has again cautioned drivers of container-laden trucks and other motorists against recklessness on the highways to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and property.

The Sango-Ota Unit Commander of FRSC, Mr Akeem Ganiyu, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ota, Ogun.

Ganiyu spoke against the backdrop of recent accident at Sango- Ota Toll- Gate involving a container marked EKY 21 YA and a tanker with registration number SMK 279 XU, that emptied its contents on the road.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ikeja Unit Command, on Sunday warned Nigerians against the use of earpiece while driving.

The Assistant Route Commander, Mr Olukayode Ayoola, who gave the warning in Lagos, said that use of earpiece by drivers had caused countless accidents.

FRSC Records 1,083 Road Crashes Involving Trailers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says a total of 1,086 road crashes involving tankers and trailers were recorded across the country in 2019.

The Corp Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, made the disclosure while presenting a paper titled Improving Road Safety in Haulage Operations Through Truck Transit Scheme (TTC), on Thursday in Kaduna.

The corps marshal spoke at a sensitisation programme on trucks transit parks, organised by the FRSC and Nigerian Shippers Council, with the theme: ‘Truck Transit Park: A Panacea for Crash-free Haulage operations in Nigeria’.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said any motorists caught creating additional lanes and or driving against traffic on the Lagos-lbadan Expressway will be booked for a psychiatric check.

FRSC Lagos State Sector Commander Mr. Hyginus Omeje, who stated this at the weekend in Lagos, said erring motorists would also have their vehicles impounded.
