The Evergreen Musical Company, in partnership with the Lagos State Government, will on Sunday, December 15, host the Ariya Eko Music Concert to celebrate great musicians, most of whom began their journey to stardom in Lagos.

The managing director, Evergreen Music, Ms. Bimbo Esho, said the festival was founded to celebrate the rich, vibrant and classic music that Lagos had become synonymous with over time in its traditional and contemporary form.

Film Entries Open for Lekki Film Festival

The submission of films for the second edition of the Lekki International Film Festival opens on Thursday, November 14. This is five months ahead of the actual festival events, a shift from the month of June to April. The inaugural festival held in June at the Lekki Coliseum in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The dates for 2020 have been scheduled from Monday, April 20 to Saturday, April 25.

The Guangzhou Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in China recently celebrated its first New Yam festival. 

The event, as expected, showcased the rich tradition of the Igbo, with many Nigerians and Africans from all walks of life in attendance.

African filmmaker Mati Diop shines at Cannes Film Festival

Mati Diop, French-Senegalese actress and director, has become the first black female director to win an award in Cannes Film Festival’s  72-year history.

News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Diop took home the Grand Prix , equivalent of a silver prize, for her film  ‘Atlantics’, a Senegalese drama about sexual politics among young migrants.

The Grand Prix award,  bestowed by the jury of the festival on one of the competing feature films, is the second-most prestigious prize of the festival after the Palme d’Or.
