Nigeria’s Federal System Skewed, Unworkable – Akeredolu

The Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has asserted that the current arrangement of the federal system of government has rendered all states of the federation almost helpless and deplorable.

He pointed out that the identity of each state has been eroded in a mistaken apprehension of the needs for unity and peaceful coexistence.

The governor, who maintained that there is need for component units in a federation to enjoy considerable latitude to explore their individual avenues for sustenance, insisted that the present system as practiced is skewed, and has eroded the identities of the states.
