Yola Hospital Separates Twins Joined At Birth

Specialist doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, have separated two children who were born joined around the abdomen as Siamese twins.

The twins who are both girls and now aged eight months, were born at the Nembe General Hospital in Bayelsa State on December 12, 2019 and were immediately referred to the FMC Yenagoa where they were, in turn, referred to the FMC Yola.

The twins had been flown by the Nigeria Air Force to Yola in January this year but the surgery to remove them was not done till earlier this month.

Pregnant Woman Dies Of COVID-19 In Abeokuta hospital

The Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, has confirmed the death of a pregnant woman in the facility as a result of contracting coronavirus.

The Head of Clinical Services (HCS) of the hospital, Dr. Fidelis Ojeblenu, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday in Abeokuta.

The hospital was thrown into confusion on Saturday, as people in and around the area took to their heels on hearing the news.

Ojeblenu said that two patients, a man, and the expectant mother, had tested positive to COVID-19 at the hospital.

Resident Doctors Condemn On-Duty Assault On Members

The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) of the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja has condemned an assault on one of its members while on call on Saturday.

The Association in a statement signed by its President, Dr Adejo Arome and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, threatened to take necessary action if security agencies did not prosecute the perpetrators.

Arome said that the assault was committed on Saturday when the doctor on call was discharging his duty.
