FCTA To Demolish Shanties In Kuje After Massive Jailbreak

Due to the recent jailbreak at the medium correctional centre in Kuje, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has slammed down a weeklong ultimatum for the demolition of some of the unauthorized buildings and shanty settlements in the town to avoid harbouring some of the escaped immates.

Already, the area council authority and its traditional ruler have given their consent for the exercise to take effect.

The stakeholders meeting to brief the community on the intended activity was held on Friday.

Court Ruling: Area Council Chairmen To Be Sworn In By FCTA

In response to the fresh court ruling on the agency’s operations, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has promised to abide by the new court ruling which would be bordering on the tenure of the six area council chairmen, which has been generating a lot of controversies lately.

Recall that the Court has overturned an earlier judgment issued on Friday, May 13, 2022, which would be granting a one-year extension to the outgoing Chairmen and Councilors of the 6 FCT Area Councils.
